Labour augmentation with oxytocin in low and lower-middle income countries

After 70 years of use, evidence that synthetic oxytocin reduces caesarean sections remains scarce, nor has improved birth outcomes been shown. Meanwhile, our new systematic review sheds light on the massive over-use in many resource-constrained settings, and our meta-analysis causes concerns for associated severely poor birth outcomes.
